As part of the recording head electrical reliability organization, this position will lead the effort in identifying and understanding the physics root cause of the different recording head reliability failure modes for new technologies and new products. To achieve this fundamental physics understanding, the individual will need to use various approaches including, but not limited to, initiating wafer/slider level DOEs, creating new electrical & physical characterization methods, and using FEM and micromagnetic modeling tools etc. Reliability transfer functions will be first generated from these studies and then communicated to the technology and product development teams, and upper management to enable design for reliability (DFR). This position will also use, maintain and upgrade various analysis tools including MFM/AFM & slider/HGA level testing systems.
